If one night stands are your cup of tea, that’s great. And while they’re usually a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing, it never hurts to be prepared. Because honestly, what sucks more than being in the middle of a hookup and realizing you don’t have protection handy? Or waking up the next morning with last night’s makeup, stink, and sweat?

TBH, it’s not fun. Better to be prepped for the moment, no? Below, we’re breaking down your go-to packing list for one night stands, according to sex and relationship counselor Dr. Martha Tara Lee. Here’s what you should pack in your tote, mini croissant bag, or pant pockets.

Mini Deodorant 

Because being scared you stink is pretty much the worst. Snag a mini tube or spray bottle at the drugstore and tuck it in your go-bag. You’ll feel fresh and sleep easy knowing you’re not doomed after ~morning sweats~. 

Mini Brush or Comb

You’ll probably feel more like *you* if you can run a brush or comb through your bed head come morning. Don’t be afraid to slip a small headband or bonnet in your bag, too, if that’s how you usually care for your hair at night and it makes you more comfortable.

Tinted Lip Balm 

You should probably nix the idea of packing an entire makeup bag. (Who has the space?) But there’s a hack: Bring a tube of lip balm which, yes, you can use for hydrated lips, but also for a dewy highlight, slicking back flyaways, and brushing up brows. Grab your tinted option if you want to add a touch of color to your face, too. 

Gum 

Bad breath = a mood killer! Especially if you have plans post-overnighter. Have a few sticks of gum handy to make sure your breath stays bearable until you can make it home.

Contraceptives & STI Protection

“When preparing for a date or party that might lead to a one-night stand, it's important to prioritize safe sex practices,” Lee says. Pack whatever birth control is relevant to you! 

Hygiene Wipes

Whether you need to wipe up the ~mess~ you just made, or you need to freshen up, pack a hygiene wipe. (Ever heard of our Refresh Wipes?) 

Personal Lubricant 

Sex is just better when you use lube or intimacy serum. And yup, there are lubes that come in little portable squares, so all you have to do is rip off the top, squeeze, and get to work.
